The line started construction in 2009. In September 2010, Construction was completed, and was followed by three-month test run. The line opened on December 30, 2010 and currently runs north from the Xi'erqi station on Line 13 to Nanshao. It is 21.24 km in length with 7 stations, only Nanshao is underground. During rush hours, the section between Life Science Park and Xi'erqi Stations is most congested section in the Beijing subway network, operating at 132% capacity.
